As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

—Psalm 103:12 (NIV)

Do you have a past you’d like to forget? Some people change schools, switch jobs, even move to a new town. That might work for a while, but we can’t leave our conscience behind. The physical reminders might be out of sight, but not out of mind.

God understands the viciousness of guilt that wags its bony finger in accusation in our face. He will remove guilt’s weight from our shoulders if we confess and surrender it to Him. Jesus died for our sins — the little ones and the haunting ones. We don’t have to replay them or move to the other side of the globe because east and west will never meet.

Since God forgives us, shouldn’t we forgive ourselves?
