He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. — 1 Corinthians 1:8,9

A Lesson On Trust

I enrolled in an outdoors skills class in college. One day, the instructor required each member to perform a trust fall. We took turns standing on a roof of a shed, crossed our arms over our chest, and fell backwards into the interlaced arms of classmates below. Standing on the edge and anticipating the fall unnerved me until I told myself to just take the plunge. Seconds later, I found myself secure in my classmates’ arms.

Life is unnerving, too. Temptations, decisions, priorities to straighten, mistakes that haunt, and critics more than willing to point out a misstep. It paralyzes us at times.

Best Father Forever

However, we have a Heavenly Father who doesn’t give up or tire of us. It’s not about our ability to hang in there, justify, or prove ourselves. He knows we can’t and steps in (Hebrews 4:15,16). He strengthens our mettle (Isaiah 41:10), binds up our wounds (Psalms 147:3), whispers encouragement (Isaiah 41:13), points the way (Isaiah 58:11), and clears the path (Proverbs 3:5,6).

But when we fail, the blood of Jesus continues to cover us (1 John 1:9). He finds us not guilty (Hebrews 10:22) and silences our our accuser (Revelation 12:10,11).

God doesn’t cut us from the team or sideline us. When He corrects, He always restores. He never rejects!

Are you afraid of today? Yourself? Others? Your Heavenly Father will keep you strong so you can cross the finish line and stand before Him unashamed.

Go ahead. Jump! He’ll catch you. Trust your Heavenly Father.
